AEL Kalloni FC winger, Paul Were will be available for Kenya’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers return leg clash against Guinea-Bissau set for Sunday, March 27.
The former AFC Leopards wide man missed the 1-0 loss to the Djurtus this past Wednesday due to issues with his traveling documents but his availability will be a refreshing welcome to Stanley Okumbi’s side which hugely suffered from lack of width against Bissau.
Stars however will make do without center-half David ‘Calabar’ Owino who is suspended after picking up a second booking in this round.
Okumbi has called Posta Rangers defender Joackins Atudo as cover for the Zesco United man who was by some distance Kenya’s best player in Bissau. Atudo will compete with Brian Mandela, Musa Mohammed and James Situma for the two center-backs positions, unless Okumbi feels it necessary to field the latter two as full-backs ala in the Bissau match.
AFC Leopards keeper Lucas Indeche has also joined the squad to provide cover to Arnold Origi and Boniface Oluoch.
Kenya, currently bottom of Group E with a single point from three games, must beat Bissau to have any chance of making it out of the group as one of the top two teams.
