Bandari FC consolidated their second spot in the Kenyan Premier League table after a dominant 3-1 home win over Nakumatt FC.
William Wadri had the Mbaraki Sports Club crowd celebrating inside 10 minutes when he picked up a ball from keeper Farouk Shikalo and made his way into the Nakumatt box before slotting past Philip Odhiambo.
It was a lead they held onto until the half time whistle, thanks in part to Shikalo who made a fine save to deny John Njoroge an equalizer.
The visitors netted just five minutes after resumption as Bandari old boy John Avire danced his way past his markers before finding Joe Wathira who planted it home.
An inspired Avire would leave the field of play after picking up an injury with Jack Bruno taking his place.
The hosts would also make a change at the hour mark as Shaban Kenga replaced Yema Mwana. Three minutes into the hour mark, Bandari reclaimed their lead as skipper Felly Mulumba struck home a penalty that was won by Wadri who was tripped in the box by Peter Amani.
The full points were delivered by Kenga who turned home a cross from fellow substitute Benjamin Mosha.
Victory saw Bernard Mwalala’s side return to winning ways after a one-all draw against Zoo Kericho last time out. It also extended their unbeaten run to 14 matches.
Meanwhile Chemelil Sugar remained in the relegation equation after drawing 1-1 with Sony Sugar. Justine Monda had given Sony a first half lead via a penalty but Stephen Onyango rescued a point for the visitors after 73 minutes.
