Khama Billiat has not reported to Kaizer Chiefs’ preseason training camp amid reported interest in his services.
The latest development comes after interests from Moroccan side Raja Casablanca.
According to Moroccan publication Maghrib Foot the Zimbabwean has been identified as a potential replacement for Zakaria Hadraf, who left the club for Saudi Arabia.
Although Zimbabwe did not do well at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Billiat left a lasting impression with his individual performances, and has attracted interest.
Raja Casablanca’s technical director Fathi Jamal has been on the look out in Egypt during the AFCON and has seemingly been impressed with the 28 year-old.
“Khama Billiat will be back for the Carling Black Label Cup. He is one of the players that is being voted for by the fans to start in the match against Orlando Pirates,” said a source.
“Khama has been given permission by the club to enjoy a break after what has been a busy last few weeks for him. After the season ended, he went straight to the Zimbabwe national team for the COSAFA Cup, and after that he went to the AFCON. He is a human being also, and he needs a break at times. Khama is not the kind of a player who will go AWOL or do things like that. If he was asked to go and train (after coming from AFCON) he was going to go without asking for a break. Fortunately, he was given permission to take a break and he will be back soon,” the source added.
