Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have been slotted in Pot 3 ahead of Saturday’s CAF Confederations Cup group stage draw.
Kogalo overcame the odds on Wednesday (18) as they edged last year’s losing finalists Supersport FC on away goals despite losing the second leg replay 2-1 having won their home leg 1-0.
Their reward will come in the form of a guaranteed Ksh. 28 million cash from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) plus at least 6 continental matches.
Ahead of the draw, Dylan Kerr’s side are in Pot 3 alongside western Africa clubs Aduana Stars (Ghana) and Djoliba AC (Mali) with Egyptian side Al Masry also in the same pot.
Nigerian side Enyimba,
DR Congo’s AS Vita, Sudan’s Al Hilal and USM Alger of Algeria are the top ranked teams and are in Pot 1.
Tanzanian giants Yanga and Rwanda’s Rayon Sport, the other two members representing East African interest are in Pot 2 and 4 respectively.
