Cameroon appoints female interim president to head Association

Former vice-president of the Centre region chapter of the Cameroon Association of Sport Journalists, Bertille Missi Bikoun, has been appointed to lead an interim committee for six months.

An extraordinary General Assembly of CASJ held in the capital Yaoundé, in April, mandated the provisional committee of six members to manage CASJ until September 2018.

The committee steps in to end a difficult and dormant period, that has seen the Association remain largely inactive since 2015.

“We have the duty to save our association because people can go but the institution must remain,” said Bikoun.

She will work with five other members picked from representative regional chapters of CASJ, Centre, Littoral, West and South-West.

The committee will run the day- day affairs of the association, revive the associations’ activities, and organize an elective general assembly that will elect new officials for a four-year term.
