Cape Town 7s: Kenya to Meet USA in Main Cup QFs

The Kenya Sevens team put a stunning show during the opening day of Cape Town 7s, the second leg of the 2015-16 World Rugby Sevens, as they finished top of their Group unbeaten.

Benjamin Ayimba’s side came to within seconds of claiming victory in their opening match against England but had to settle for a 19-19 draw after the English side scored a converted try in the dying minutes of the match.

Shujaa won’t be denied in their second match though as they put on a sterling show to beat hosts South Africa 14-12 in their second match. It was the first time any team had conquered the Blitzboks in their own backyard.

An emphatic 36-0 mauling of Zimbabwe saw Kenya finish top of the group ahead of South Africa who won the winner takes all clash with England 10-0.

The victory guarantees Kenya at least 10 points. They meet Mike Friday’s USA in the quarters at 210pm EAT today (Sun, Dec. 13).
