Tusker FC maintained their top position in the 2016 Kenyan Premier League log after collecting a routine 1-0 win over tail-enders Sofapaka at Machakos Stadium while Chemelil FC left Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium with three points after edging hosts Posta by the same scoreline.
Ekaliana Ndolo punished his former employers with a 69th minute winner after both sides had grappled the entire opening half without either finding the back of the net.
The midfielder beat Evariste Mutuyimana in Sofapaka’s goal after a nice inter-change of passes with Michael Khamati as David Ouma’s side lost their 10th loss of the season in only 13 outings. They remain bottom with 7 points while Tusker go four clear of Mathare United who travel to Bandari on Sunday, May 15.
Chemelil moved up two places to 9th after David Ojuang’s goal inside the opening 10 minutes gave them a 1-0 success over Posta Rangers.
Posta remain third on 20 points but could be leapfrogged by both Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars who play Western Stima and Nairobi City Stars respectively on Sunday.
Amos Asembeka turned home a deflected cross from youngster Boniface Muchiri as hosts Sony Sugar edged Thika United 1-0 to break into the top 10.
Muhoroni Youth moved into the top six after a 1-0 success over AFC Leopards.
