FKF Shield:Kogalo Roll into Shield Last 32

Record champions Gor Mahia began their quest for a first FKF Shield trophy in six years by comfortably beating Round of 64 opponents SS Assad at the Mbaraki Sports Club, Sunday, May 27.

The David versus Goliath clash went in the latter’s way as two goals from Lawrence Juma and one apiece from Eliud Lokuwam, Godfrey Walusimbi and Jacques Tuyisenge handed the Kenyan Premier League leaders and defending champions victory.Despite missing the likes of first choice keeper Boniface Oluoch and midfielders George Odhiambo, Francis Kahata and Humphery Mieno as well as defender Joash Onyango who were called for national team duties, Kogalo still had enough firepower to easily see off the Divison One team.

They will now face winner between KenPoly and Savannah Cement in Round 32.

Starting XI: Fredrick Odhiambo (GK), Godfrey Walusimbi, Charlse Momanyi, Joachim Oluoch, Wesley Onguso, Ernest Wendo, Innocent Wafula, Lawrence Juma, Kevin Omondi, Boniface Omondi, Jacques Tuyisenge
