Odion Ighalo’s fifth goal of the tournament helped Nigeria finish third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Tunisia at Al Salam.
Ighalo turned home the game’s only goal after three minutes to settle the tie which was closely battled.
Substitute Samuel Kalu forced Tunisia keeper Moez Ben Cherifia into two stunning saves from we’ll-struck freekicks late on as the Super Eagles pushed for the killer goal.
It was however Ighalo’s strike that held significance, the Chinese Super League-based striker putting himself firmly on pole for the golden boot.
His five goals are two better than Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez and Senegal’s Sadio Mane who both have three goals.
The two contest in the final on Friday evening.
