Title holders Got Mahia kept the gap atop the Kenyan Premier League table to six points after a Jacques Tuyisenge brace steered them to a 3-1 win at Nzoia United. Kogalo, yet to taste defeat in the 16 league matches they have played this season, were hunting for a third stat league victory and it was delivered courtesy of the Rwandan international.
After a closely contested start against the potential banana skin Nzoia, Tuyisenge pulled his side ahead in the 33rd minute for a 1-0 half time lead.
Captain Harun Shakava doubled his side’s lead three minutes after the restart before Tuyisenge assured of the points with his second at the hour mark.
Nzoia pulled one back in added time to deny Dylan Kerr’s men a clean sheet but that was a mere consolation. The victory puts Kogalo on 40 points, six better than second-placed Sofapaka who have played four more games. Sofapaka thumped Thika United 3-0 in Narok. In other matches, Ebrimah Sanneh scored the only goal in the 75th minute as Kariobangi Sharks beat Posta Rangers 1-0 while Tusker FC and Wazito canceled each other in a one-all stalemate. Ulinzi Stars’ poor run persisted as they settled for a barren stalemate against visiting Bandari. Earlier on, Nakumatt collected the biggest margin win of the season, embarrassing Kakamega Homeboyz 6-1.
