Football Kenya Federation has confirmed its participation in the 1st Edition of the IGAD (Inter Governmental Agency on Development) games scheduled to kick of in Djibouti from 16th-26th January 2016.
The games will bring together eight member countries which are; Sudan, Djibouti, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea and South Sudan.
The regional body has organised these games as part of their 30 years celebrations and will host the following disciplines.
Athletics, Basketball, Football, Handball, Table tennis and will take place in Djibouti City.
However in efforts of developing youth in sports all the participants in the games will be within the age bracket of 14-18 years.
Football Kenya Federation will send two football teams namely a boys and girls team.
The games are organised under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and the Kenya National Sports Council.
Other sports bodies that have confirmed and already started their selection exercise are-Athletics Kenya, Kenya Basketball Federation, Kenya Handball Associations, and Table Tennis.
Football Kenya Federation will work in conjunction with the Kenya Secondary Schools Association in selecting the team in both football disciplines. However Athletics will only cover some few track events and represented by a contingent of 25 boys, 20 girls.
