Captain Indeche Doubtful for Ushuru Clash

AFC Leopards captain and goalkeeper Lucas Indeche could miss this Sunday’s Kenyan Premier League round 9 clash against Ushuru FC due to injury.

Indeche, who has been in superb form this season, sat out of Thursday evening’s friendly match against the Kenya U20 national team which ended 2-1 in favor of the title-chasing Ingwe, second half substitute Lamine Diallo scoring twice.

Head coach Ivan Minnaert confirmed to FourFourTwoMedia.com that the former Sony Sugar man is nursing a rib injury and could miss the 415pm clash against Ushuru at the Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

Indeche only took part in a light warm-up alongside youngster Alfred Kemboi who is still out with a hamstring injury. Midfielder Victor Omune also looked uncomfortable after getting a knock in the opening half and never resumed for the second half.

In the skipper’s absence, Leopards fielded trainee Johnstone Alsula in the first half before reserve keeper Daniel Kiptoo took over after the interval. Leopards’ Edwin Mukolwe was in goal for the Under-20 team and could compete for a starting spot with Kiptoo should Indeche not recover in time.

Leopards, third on the log, go into the match at the back of a 2-1 defeat of Sofapaka last weekend while Ushuru battled for a barren draw with reigning champions Gor Mahia.
