Betting Tips: Muhoroni Youth vs Mathare

The Kenyan Premier League resumes today, Wednesday October 12, after a two-and-a-half week break where domestic cup competition as well as international matches were played.

Mathare United's visit to Muhoroni Youth today (12), will open the proceedings as both sides continue their hunt for a Top 8 finish that will admit then to the 2017 Top 8 finals.

The hosts go into this clash under new stewardship after head coach Bobby Ogolla was shown the door last week but in Tom Juma, the man who has been handed the duties for the remaining games of the season, they will feel confident of getting a result at home.

Mathare, fifth on the log, were once tipped to fight for the league title but they somehow fell by the way side although head coach Francis Kimanzi admits that they are within their season targets - a top four finish.

They face a Muhoroni side who will be hoping they can address a wretched run which has seen them win only once in their last 7 league assignments, but are unbeaten in 10 home matches.

There's really nothing to separate these two teams in terms of their previous meetings. In the 9 games they have played, both teams have won 3 matches each and the other 3 ended in draws.

Goalscorers out

Muhoroni won the corresponding fixture 1-0 last season and fought for a 1-1 draw when Mathare hosted them in April this year. Both players who scored in that match, Muhoroni's Wycliffe Ochomo and Mathare's Whyvonne Issuza will miss this match, the latter recovering from a broken ankle while the former has been ostracized from his team.

Ochomo's absence will be highly felt by the hosts with the striker the joint leading goalscorer in the league with 12 goals but Mathare will also feel the pinch of missing attacking midfielder Eric Johanna who is suspended for the clash after accumulating five yellow cards.

Muhoroni Youth Starting XI: Farouk Shikhalo, Yusuf Mohammed, Mike Simiyu, James Ogada, Kelvin Omondi, Abdalla Hamisi, Benjamin Mosha, Kennedy Rono, Moses Arita, Francis Ochola, Samuel Ndungu

Subs: Kennedy Otieno, Peter Okore, Andrew Sekayombya, Daniel Otieno, Dennis Monda, Lwamba Bebeto, Calvince Omanga

Mathare United Starting XI: Robert Mboya (GK), Robinson Kamura, David Mwangi, Andrew Juma, George Owino, Vincent Okello (C), Whyvonne Isuza, Crispin Oduor, Duke Abuya, Daniel Mwaura, Derrick Onyango

Subs: Wycliffe Kasaya (GK), Bernard Omondi, Ronald Okoth, Harrison Mwendwa, Musa Oundo, Cliff Nyakeya, Alphonce Ndonye

Muhoroni Youth - L W L D L L

Mathare United -  L W W L D

9 meetings, 3 wins each, 3 draws

Correct Score Prediction: 1-1 at Half time. 2-1 to Muhoroni Youth at FT

Betting Tips: DR Congo versus Kenya

Kenya's Harambee Stars take on DR Congo in an international friendly in Kinshasa tonight, October 4, in what will be the first clash between the two sides in over half a decade.
Head Coach Stanley Okumbi will be looking to build on a fine run that sees his side unbeaten in their last five assignments but The Leopards are perhaps the biggest team they have met yet.
Congo are ranked 40 places above the East Africans and will be looking to show the home crowd just why such a huge gap exists between them.
Goals for Kenya
Okumbi already unveiled his starting XI which hinted that they will be going for early goals if the partnering of Michael Olunga and Jesse Were upfront is anything to go by.
The hosts will be using this clash to prepare for the 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifier against Libya this Saturday, while Stars will want to cause another upset and give a couple more players international experience.
The Central African nation has won all but one of their last 9 matches in all competitions, keeping cleansheets in four, and have won their previous four encounters against Kenya, the last coming in January 2011 during the Nile Basin Tournament.
Unbeaten run
Kenya go into the clash at the back of a five-game unbeaten run but they have won only one of the quintet, an impressive 2-1 defeat of DR Congo's neighbors, Congo. The Harambee Stars have kept only one clean sheet in the previous 10 matches.
Congo will feel like they have this in the bag but Stars will be hoping they can show how far they have come under the new management and federation.
However, the hosts look some light years ahead of Kenya even if they won't be able to field their first eleven which boast the likes of Bournemouth's Benik Afobe, Everton's Yannick Bolasie and Villareal's Cedrik Bakambu, to mention but a few.
A home win is 100% safe with the home team winning in both halves. However, expect the visitors to get a goal given the form of the two strikers; Olunga and Were.
Head-to-Head: Congo won 4 of 4 meetings
DR Congo Form: W W D L W
Kenya Form: D D W D D
DR Congo Last Match: W 4-1 vs Central African Republic
Kenya Last Match: D 1-1 against Zambia
Correct Score Prediction: DR Congo 3-1 Kenya
