After weeks of speculations and uncertainty, Ugandan international midfielder Khalid Aucho finally got his Visa to Scotland where he is set to join Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.
The former Gor Mahia man will travel to Scotland on Thursday to attend a two week trial with the former Scottish champions.
He confirmed receiving his Visa on his official Facebook Page saying: "Finally have got it thanks lord for everything you’re the best God."
Aucho, who until June was a Gor Mahia player, will be hoping to sign a deal with the Dons after two fantastic seasons at Kogalo in which he won a two KPL titles. He has enjoyed fine form for his country Uganda as well and was on target in their last outing when they beat Botswana 2-1 in Gaborone to enhance their chances of qualifying for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
If he succeeds, he will follow in the footsteps of other East Africans to play in the league including former Uganda captain David Obua who played for Hearts and the current Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama who made headlines at Celtic FC.
Capped 17 times Aucho and his agent initially claimed he was set to come to Scotland for a trial at Rangers.
He later did a U-turn and insisted he would fly in to the Granite City.
And Dons boss Derek McInnes, who is set to fly with the team to Latvia later today, confirmed to Aberdeen Evening Express that Aucho will be given the chance to earn a deal.
Aucho could play for the Dons Under-20 side in their friendly against Arbroath at Gayfield Park on Saturday.
McInnes said: “ He is due in today and the plan is for him to train with the U20 squad on Friday.
“We will assess whether he is ready to take part in the game on Saturday.” Photo: Sportpicha
