A second string Gor Mahia side on Sunday clinched the inaugural SportPesa Super Cup after smashing AFC Leopards 3-0 in the final played at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Kogalo, facing a rejuvenated Ingwe were patient in their build up and turned up the gear in the second half of the game after a barren first half. The 15-time Kenyan champions pocketed Ksh3 Million, setting up a date with English Premier League side Everton FC on 13th of July at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Timothy Otieno, Oliver Maloba and former Ingwe boy John Ndirangu were on the scoresheet as Kogalo condemned Leopards under new coach Marco Marin to his first loss, painfully in the derby.
Otieno, burst through the Ingwe defense in the 78th minute of the game to rifle low past Ian Otieno and Maloba capitalized on a sulky Ingwe defending to tap home a second in the 88th minute. Ingwe, ruffled and confused did not turn up to the game and another mistake from the midfield allowed Ndirangu to score a third to send the Kogalo travelling party into frenzy.
