Kenyan Premier League leaders Gor Mahia moved nine points clear atop the table after emphatically thumping bogey side Nzoia United 4-0 in a one-sided clash at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu Saturday (9) afternoon.
First half goals from Jacques Tuyisenge and Meddie Kagere had Kogalo firmly in the driving seat at the break and they made sure of the full points with a similar number of goals after the breather, Tuyisenge adding another while Francis Kahata also got in the act.
Kogalo went into the match at the back of a 1-1 draw against rivals AFC Leopards last time out - a result that was deemed disappointing - but they turned on the style against the visitors who simply had no answers to their hosts' quick movement and clinical finishing.
Tuyisenge put Gor ahead after 28 minutes , following some good work from George Odhiambo. Kagere doubled the lead at the stroke of half time, heading home a free kick from Kenneth Muguna.
Stephen Wakanya blew a golden chance to halve the deficit for Nzoia when he failed to beat Fredrick Onyango from the spot 10 minutes after the resumption. Kogalo made it 3-0 three minutes later, Tuyisenge grabbing his second of the afternoon. Substitute Kahata turned home the fourth off a Tuyisenge pass with quarter an hour to go.
The victory saw Dylan Kerr pick up his 7th league win in 8 league matches since taking charge at the club. It also sees them open a 9-point gap at the top ahead of Sofapaka's home game against Chemelil, Sunday.
In other results, Kepha Aswani came off the bench and scored twice as Nakumatt beat Posta Rangers 2-0 at the Ruaraka Grounds. Masoud Juma scored a second half winner for Kariobangi Sharks who won 1-0 at Bandari while Muhoroni Youth and Ulinzi Stars drew 0-0 while Francis Nambute scored the winner for Kakamega Homeboyz in a 2-1 victory over Thika United who had seen Eugene Mukangula's lead cancelled by Moses Mudavadi.
