As sure as daylight, AFC Leopards have felt it necessary to appoint yet another head coach as their struggle for a league position that befits their name and history persists.
Having juggled with a Croat, a Belgian, a Briton and a Romanian (at least for a few hours), they have returned back home.
The club's Chairman Dan Mule has confirmed that two-time Kenyan Premier League title winning coach Robert 'the Lion' Matano will be the club's new boss effective Monday, July 10.
Matano who returned to management just a couple of months ago after battling past serious illnesses has will pen an initial 6-month contract.
After losing the Ulinzi Stars job to his understudy Benjamin Nyangweso, Matano started the new season as the manager at National Super League side Nairobi City Stars. He would however cross over to divison rivals Bidco United where he's been working until his pending appointment.
He be aiming to address Leopards' relegation form with the club placed 12th on the log despite investing heavily during the end of the 2016 season as well as in the mid-season transfer window this past June.
Matano coached Ingwe in 2010 and 2011 and brings with his the distinguishing CV as the only local coach to have won the league title with two different clubs (Ulinzi and Tusker FC)
While commenting on Matano's appointment, Mule cited that his appointment will bring some level of discipline that has evidently been missing.
"We want Matano to instill discipline in our squad as we try turn the fortunes around'
"He has a fatherly figure and has achieved a lot and has won the league twice and i'm sure he can help us turn around the corner,'
