Walusimbi Strike Downs Resilient Bandari

Godfrey Walusimbi put in an assured performance, setting up the opener before hitting home the winner as Gor Mahia collected three points for a third game running away to Bandari to pile on the pressure at the top of the Kenyan Premier League standings with a 2-1 victory at the Mbaraki Stadium, Wednesday afternoon.

Innocent Wafula had Kogalo leading inside 11 minutes having latched on a cross from Walusimbi only to see his effort cancelled by a Noah Abich penalty six minutes into the second half.

However, the record champions assured themselves of the maximum points as he rifled a freekick from center half Harun Shakava.

The victory could have sent Kogalo top but Posta Rangers are not letting it go easily. Sammy Omollo's side won 1-0 at Sony Sugar to spend another matchday on top of the log with 17 points, one better than Gor Mahia.

Ulinzi Stars meanwhile were handed their first loss of the season as they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Kakamega Homeboyz, Wycliffe Ochomo scoring the solitary goal before being sent off.

Mathare United dominated visiting Chemelil Sugar at the Thika sub-County Stadium but they couldn't find the finishing power, the match ending scoreless while Nzoia Sugar handed Western Stima a fourth defeat of the season, beating Henry Omino's men 2-0.

Earlier, Kariobangi Sharks edged Thika United 1-0 courtesy of a Rodgers Omondi's solitary strike.
