Ulinzi Stars unbeaten start to the 2017 Kenyan Premier League came to an end at the hands of 10-man Kakamega Homeboyz who ran away with a 1-0 home victory despite their goalscorer Wycliffe Ochomo being sent off in the opening half.
The Soldiers, alongside league leaders Posta Rangers, stepped into round 7 as the only teams yet to lose a match this season but by the end of the day's matches, only Posta stood stall.
Ochomo handed Homeboyz the lead inside 5 minutes after latching onto a pass from Meshack Karani before beating James Saruni in the Soldiers' goal.
However, the former Muhoroni Youth attacker was given his marching orders just before the breather for allegedly elbowing Ulinzi defender Mohamed 'Rio' Hassan.
Ulinzi would however be frustrated for the rest of the match despite being the better side after the interval. Victory lifts Homeboyz to the top half of the table while the Soldiers risk dropping lower than their current fourth position.
In other matches, Mathare United dominated visiting Chemelil Sugar at the Thika sub-County Stadium but they couldn't find the finishing power, the match ending scoreless while Nzoia Sugar handed Western Stima a fourth defeat of the season, beating Henry Omino's men 2-0.
Earlier, Kariobangi Sharks edged Thika United 1-0 courtesy of a Rodgers Omondi's solitary strike.
