HK7s: Scotland Beat Shujaa to Challenge Trophy

Kenya Sevens' quest to win a third Challenge Trophy this season was thwarted by Scotland who were crowned the Hong Kong 7s champions following a 21-19 victory.

Two converted tries from Frank Wanyama and Dennis Ombachi had Shujaa leading 14-12 at the interval but despite a third try in the game from captain Andrew Amonde, the Scots pulled ahead to take the victory.

Shujaa, who reached the final after a 24-5 win over Russia in the semis, took seven points following the result, leaving them on 47 points ahead of two remaining legs. They travel to Singapore for the penultimate leg of the 2016-17 season.

It was in Singapore where they made history by winning their maiden Leg and Innocent Simiyu will be hoping for a successful title defence although they don't look as threatening this season.

Meanwhile Fiji deservedly won the Hong Kong Sevens title, easily beating South Africa's Blitzboks 22-0 in the final of the prestigious tournament. Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Mesulame Kunavula’s first half touchdowns gave Fiji a 10-0 lead at the interval and they completed a whitewash with a Kalione Nasoko double as they won their first cup this season and a third straight one in Hong Kong.
