Kenya Sevens dropped down a spot in the World Rugby Sevens Series standings after collecting only five points at the Vancouver Sevens in Canada.
Shujaa, 11th before the 6th leg of the Series, find themselves in 12th position on 40 points ahead of four remaining legs.
Innocent Simiyu's charges were beaten 21-7 by Samoa in the Challenge Trophy semifinal, the South Pacific Islanders avenging the defeat they suffered against Shujaa in the Las Vegas Sevens Challenge Trophy final.
Hong Kong will host the 7th leg of the Series with Singapore and Paris hosting the next two before the season comes to an end in London.
Meanwhile England were crowned the Canada 7s champions after beating runaway series leaders South Africa 19-7 in the final. It was the second time this season that the English overcame the Blitzboks in a final, having conquered them at the Cape Town Sevens.
The victory lifted England to second on the log on 103 points, three ahead of Fiji who won the Vancouver bronze.
Dethroned Vancouver 7s champions New Zealand are fourth on 84 points with Mike Friday's USA wrap up the top five with 67 points.
