Gor Mahia will have to make do without the services of midfielder Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth when they take on Zanzibar’s KMKM in their second Group A match at the ongoing Cecafa Kagame Cup in Tanzania.
Gatusso missed the opening 2-1 defeat of Yanga SC last Saturday due to an injury which he sustained over a week ago when playing a Kenya Premier League match against Mathare United. Ugandan, Khalid Aucho, played in his position against Yanga.
“Gattuso is still out injured but may be he is five days away from a competitive game. We are monitoring his injury and the progress is good,” Gor Mahia Team Manager Frank Ouna told the club’s official website.
The good news however is that attacking midfielder Ali Abondo has been confirmed fit to make his Kagame Cup debut. “Abondo is fit and in contention for a starting berth today,” Ouna said.
The back-to-back Kenya Premier League winners take on KMKM at the back of a stunning win against Yanga which put them top of their Group. Victory against the Zanzibar outfit today, Monday July 20 at 4pm EAT will almost guarantee Frank Nuttall’s men progress to the quarters.
