Three players had their contracts renewed by record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia ahead of the 2017 season.
Goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch has been at the center of Kogalo’s fine run over the last three seasons and he was rewarded with a new contract alongside Burundian international Karim Nizigiyimana, an indispensable figure at the right fullback position.
Also penning in a new deal is winger Innocent Wafula despite the fact that he played a bit part last season.
Kogalo were fairly busy during the off-season window, bringing in 11 new faces. Key among them was 2016 Kenyan Premier League Most Valuable Player Kenneth Muguna from Western Stima and Rwandan international Jean-Baptiste Mugiraneza. The Jose Marcelo-led side also raided relegated Nairobi City Stars for attacking midfielder Oliver Maloba while goalkeeper Shaban Odhoji made a step up after starring for Ushuru FC despite their relegation.
Youngster Teddy Osok was recruited from Nairobi Stima while there was also the odd acquisition of John ‘Softie’ Ndirangu from AFC Leopards where he barely dazzled last season.
Others joining the project include Fredrick Odhiambo (Mathare United), Jeconiah Oyuga (Unattached), Joash Onyango (Western Stima), Mike Simiyu (Muhoroni Youth) and Philemon Otieno (Mahakama)
On the exit door included among others strikers Jacob Keli and Enock Agwanda, both snapped up by Bandari FC, Gradus Ochieng who joined Muhoroni Youth fellow keeper Sammy Okinda and Chrispin Odula both at promoted side Nakumatt FC, Baron Oketch who went to Ulinzi Stars on loan, Luke Ochieng (Posta Rangers) and Jackson Saleh (Western Stima).
