Kenya Simbas Target Better Rankings in Test Match against Spain

Kenya 15’s are scheduled to play Spain in a test match at Nairobi’s RFUEA Grounds on Saturday 18 July 2015 with head coach Jerome Paarwater targeting victory that will translate to improved world rankings.

Currently ranked 30th on the World Rugby Rankings, 10 places below the visiting Los Leones, Simba will have a difficult day in office according to Paarwater. “If you ask me we are headed to the right direction,” he said.

“Our target is and remains building a team for long term benefits. The test matches are doing us good and am sure the boys would love to pick up from the Portugal win two months ago, which will definitely help our rankings,”  said the South African.

Spain will come into the encounter off the back of a 20-3 win over another African side, Namibia, in a Four Nations tournament played on 21 June in Bucharest, Romania. This will be their first African foray since 2012 when they again defeated Namibia 38-37 in Windhoek.

This will be the first ever test match between the two sides, despite the two teams having met severally in the 7s version of the game.
