Tusker FC forward, Jesse Were, netted the equalizing goal as star-studded Opitos settled for a 2-2 draw with Group D leaders Wenyeji in a match that was marred by violence towards the final whistle.
Opitos found themselves chasing the game inside the opening 10 minutes after Wenyeji raced to a 2-0 lead. However, the teams featuring the likes of Were, Ellie Asieche, Eugene Asike, Humphrey Mieno and Edgar Ochieng’ rallied to force a 2-2 draw with Were netting the equalizer in added time.
However, the match failed to restart after Wenyeji fans started throwing foreign objects into the pitch whilst breaking chairs. Spectators scampered helter skelter amid the evening showers. The disciplinary committee will sit on Monday evening with the two teams to review the match.
The stalemate leaves both sides on 7 points with Wenyeji on top. Puiretto are also on 7 points after battling to a barren draw with Mbotela Kamaliza while Zimmerman and Kayole Youth did not turn up for their match.
