KPL Charges Waruru, Tusker, Gor and Muhoroni

Kenyan Premier League has pressed charges against the League’s top scorer, Ulinzi’s Stephen Waruru for provoking violence against Gor Mahia supporters after celebrating in front of them in their 2-2 draw last weekend.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, the Kenyan International is supposed to answer to the charges before Friday 14th July.

Waruru scored a last minute equalizer as they snatched a valuable point against the league leaders in a match played at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu on Sunday 2nd July.

Part of the statement read:

– Leading KPL top scorer Waruru is accused of provoking K’Ogalo supporters by celebrating in front of them after scoring against their team which is contrary to KPL rules during the match. The respondents are expected to appear before the disciplinary committee between Monday July 10 and Friday July 14.

Elswhere, Tusker FC, Gor Mahia and  Muhoroni Youth have also been charged by the KPL at the Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee for other offenses.

Muhoroni Youth, notoriously known for cases of indiscipline, have been pressed with different charges among them denying Sony Sugar access to the check area before their league match earlier this season and attacking Nzoia Sugar FC members during a league match. Both offences occurred in May.

League champions Tusker on the other hand failed to produce their players’ cards before their league match against Kericho Zoo FC in May and have also been accused  for attempting to tap four Sony Sugar FC players.

Record league champions Gor Mahia have also not escaped the wrath of the  IDCC after their fans threw water bottles onto the pitch during their 2-2 home draw against Ulinzi Stars.

Tusker, Gor Mahia and Muhoroni Charges:

– The League has accused Muhoroni Youth of denying Sony Sugar players and technical staff from accessing the checking area contrary to Rule 3.4 (a) of the Rules governing Kenyan football, and that this particular match, played in Muhoroni on April 17, was delayed for 12 minutes due to unavailability of adequate security personnel.

-Muhoroni Youth chairman Moses Adagala has also been accused of leading a group of home fans in invading the pitch and charging towards match officials. Adagala is accused of also trying to force his way into the match officials’ changing rooms which is contrary to the rules governing Kenyan football.

-Separately, the League has also charged Muhoroni for an attack on members, supporters and fans of Nzoia Sugar during a league match between the two clubs played on May 20 in Muhoroni.

– Tusker have been charged for failing to produce Player License cards of the entire team that played against Zoo Kericho in a league match played in Kericho on May 10. The brewers are also accused of player tapping. The League has charged them of illegal approaching four Sony Sugar players contrary to KPL policy.

-The League also instituted proceedings against 15-time champions Gor Mahia for the throwing of water cans and stones to the pitch attributed to their fans during their game against Ulinzi on July 2 in Kisumu, causing a 15-minute stoppage.
