Holders Gor Mahia put five points between them and the competition as they made a resounding return to Kenyan Premier League action, thumping Wazito FC 4-0 at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
Two goals either side of the half did the job over Wazito who are now rooted at the bottom of the table.
Boniface Omondi scored twice in a match that started with the reigning champions taking a third minute lead via Meddie Kagere. The Sportpesa Super Cup champions doubled their lead at the half hour mark through Omondi as they went 2-0 up at the interval.
Midfielder Francis Kahata ensured the full points would be added to Gor Mahia’s tally with the third just 8 minutes after the restart. Omondi grabbed his second of the match in added time.
The victory leaves Kogalo five points ahead of second-placed Mathare United, and with four games in hand.
Also winning on the day were Gor Mahia’s rivals AFC Leopards who beat Sofapaka 1-0 at the Machakos Stadium. Ulinzi Stars meanwhile were held to a one-all home draw by visiting Kakamega Homeboyz.
