AFC Leopards’ quest to finish within the top 10 positions in the Sportpesa Premier League has been handed a massive blow with three of its players set to miss out their round 28 clash away to Sofapaka FC this Friday, October 28.
Leopards will go into the Machakos Stadium tie without midfielders Bernard Ongoma and Allan Kateregga as well as defender Eugene Ambulwa.
Kateregga will be serving the last of his two suspensions following the red card he received in the 2-2 draw against Ulinzi Stars. The Ugandan missed the 1-0 defeat to Gor Mahia in the Mashemeji Derby this past weekend.
Ongoma and Ambulwa meanwhile received their fifth yellow cards during the derby which automatically locks them out of the Sofapaka trip.
Ezekiel Akwana’s side, 13th on the log, will be looking to arrest a 6-game winless run in the topflight.
Five other players will miss round 28 matches. They include Sony Sugar duo Boniface Muchiri and Victor Ademba, Thika United’s Collins Okumu and goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo who was sent off in the 2-1 defeat against Sofapaka last Friday.
Jimmy Bageya will also miss as his relegation-threatened Nairobi City Stars host Kakamega Homeboyz at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, October 30.
