AFC Leopards head coach, Ivan Minaert has won the the Fidelity Insurance /Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) coach of the month award for March.
The Belgian tactician guided his team to three victories and a draw in four matches during the month, the highlight being the 1-0 defeat of Gor Mahia in the Mashemeji Derby.
Leopards started the month with a 1-0 defeat of Bandari, Kepha Aswani scoring the winner before wantaway forward Lamine Diallo engineered the derby victory against Kogalo.
The solitary stalemate came against bogey team Chemelil but a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Kakamega Homeboyz at the end of March saw Ingwe finish the month on top which all but secured Minnaert the award.
He beat Ulinzi Stars’ Robert Matano and Tusker FC head coach Paul Nkata to the award and becomes the second recipient after Mathare United’s Francis Kimanzi won the inaugural award in February.
Tusker played one match less than Leopards in February with Nkata leading his side to two victories and a draw, while Matano’s Ulinzi played four matches, winning one and drawing three.
Minnaert took home Kshs. 50,000 and a personalized trophy.
