Posta Rangers survived a late City Stars surge to win 1-0 in a Sportpesa Premier League match played on Sunday at the Nyayo Stadium.
Rangers who were the favorites heading into the match had their first real chance in the 11th minute of the game when Gershon Likono had his effort cleared by John Amboko as they pressed up the pitch. Likono could not be denied ten minutes later when he powered a header past Ronnine Kagunzi to give the visitors the lead. Kagunzi who was earning a rare start for Bobby Ogolla’s charges was guilty of comical errors with the notable one coming in the 23rd minute of the game for deliberately handling the ball out of his area.
Titus Achesa stretched Kagunzi later on but the half could end with non of the keepers being stretched.
A much changed City Stars side came back stronger in the second half with Jockins Atudo and co working extra hard to keep a clean sheet .
Jimmy Bageya missed a seater in the 91st minute of the game with Iddi Shikanda also missing a glaring opportunity. Rangers move to fourth on the log with 24 points while City Stars remain 15th with 10 points.
