John Mark Makwatta’s second goal of the season helped Ulinzi Stars to a hard-earned 1-0 win over Ushuru FC, while Bandari also celebrated a similar result against visiting Sony Sugar.
Makwatta, the reigning Kenyan Premier League golden boot second runners up hit the winner from a freekick in the 50th minute to give the traveling Soldiers the three points.
A closely contested first half saw Ulinzi come closest through left-back Omar Mbongi whose free-kick was well gathered by Shaban Odhoji in Ushuru’s goal.
Odhoji could do nothing after the interval though as Makwatta found the back of his net from just outside the area..
The hosts failed to find the equalizer as they suffered their second loss of the season while Robert Matano’s side got their second win.
At Mbaraki, Antony Kimani netted his third of the season at the quarter hour mark, hammering home a pass from Shaban Kenga as Twahir Muhiddin’s side made it two wins from two at home following last Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat against AFC Leopards.
Bandari are 6th on the log with 7 points. They face Sofapaka next week Wednesday.
