Kenya national women’s volleyball team boss Japheth Munala unveiled a strong side for the CAVB Zone 5 championship which will also be used as a qualifier for the 2019 All Africa Games.
The Kasarani Indoor Arena was the venue used to reveal the 12-woman team who will travel for the Championship scheduled for May 18-25 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala, Uganda.
Veteran celebrity setters Janet Wanja and Jane Wacu headline the squad alongside Mercy Moim who will skipper the team.
Sharon Chepchumba, voted the best attacker at the Africa club championship in Cairo, also made the cut alongside a host of youngsters including Lorine Chebet and Emmaculate Chemutai.
Munala, who named only one libero in Agripinah Kundu, will work alongside Italian coach Shaileen Ramdoo and Josp Barasa.
Each winner from the seven African zones will join hosts Morocco for the women’s volleyball event at the 12th All-Africa Games, due August in Rabat.
