Robert Matano’s work so far with Tusker FC can be described as ‘balanced’ as his side suffered a third defeat on the bounced, having won the first three since being reappointed the Brewers’ boss.
Their latest capitulation came at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz, who boasted three players who were Tusker players at the end of last season.
One of them, Allan Wanga, scored the second of the twin goals in the second half to give the visitors a well earned three points.
Eston Esiye’s belter in the 27th minute had given Homeboyz the lead. The midfielder sent a long low drive towards David Okello in the Brewers goal with the keeper making a meal of it, allowing the ball to squirm through his legs.
It made the difference in a poor first half whose only other opportunity was when Wanga capitalized on a slip from fellow teammate Eugene Asike, raced through, only to see Asike make a recovery and block the forward’s strike with the keeper gravely exposed.
Wanga put the game to bed seven minutes to the final whistle, heading home a cross from Esiye.
The result leaves 13th placed Tusker just three points above the relegation zone while Homeboyz keep their top half status.
Saturday’s only other game saw hosts Chemelil Sugar suffer a 1-0 defeat against Sony Sugar who scored at the death as they moved off the bottom.
