2008 Kenyan Premier League champions Mathare United produced a remarkable comeback to edge Sony Sugar 2-1 at the Awendo Green Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Yema Mwana opened the scoring in the 20th minute for the hosts but Clifford Alwanga leveled matters in the 37th minute of the game with a thumping header.
Crispin Oduor scored what would be the winner in the 43rd minute of the game.
The win leaves Mathare in fourth place with 14 points, two behind league leaders Gor Mahia who have a game in hand.
While in Awendo, Mathare wore their new 2018 match uniforms for the first time. And, for the third time since starting in 1994, the Mathare uniforms again feature the famous “NGOMBE” brand.
In another league fixture played at the Camp Toyoyo, financially-strapped Nakumatt lost 2-0 to promoted Wazito courtesy of goals from Joe Wathira and Kenneth Wendo as Timonah Wanyonyi missed from the spot kick for Nakumatt.
