AFC Leopards coach Andre Cassa Mbungo has played down suggestions that the team will feel heat ahead of Sunday’s derby match against Gor Mahia.
Ingwe have not beaten the Champions elect in three seasons and fans are demanding for a positive result come derby day.
However, the Rwandese coach says Sunday’s game is just any other match and they will do all they can to stun K’Ogalo.
Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to KCB meant that the team had lost all the six points against a side that was promoted to the top flight this season but Mbungo who fielded a rather weak side says, Sunday the fans should expect a different Leopard.
‘We are disappointed to have lost today because of how we played in the first half.’
‘Our team did not really get into the game and we conceded a very cheap goal.’
‘We are not panicking because we will have most of our first team players on Sunday for the derby,’
‘We will take it just like any other game and of course we want to hunt for the three points,’ he said.
Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards suffered an identical 1-0 defeats to their respective opponents in Wednesday’s Kenya Premier League matches ahead of this Sunday’s Mashemeji derby at Kasarani Stadium.
KCB beat Leopards in Machakos to complete a double over Casa Mbungo’s men as Geoffrey Oduor’s Nzoia Sugar slammed K’Ogalo 1-0 at Mumias Sports Complex.
Hansel Ochieng’s 34th minute goal is all that Nzoia needed to condemned Gor to their fourth defeat of the season while Kennedy Owino squeezed one passed Ezekiel Owade to hand KCB a hard fought 1-0 against Leopards in Machakos.
For Ingwe, Mbungo rested David Ochieng, Whyvonne Isuza, Soter Kayumba , Paul Were and Brian Marita. Vincent Oburu also started from the bench.
Hassan Oktay on the other hand gave a breather to captain Harun Shakava, Joash Onyango, Kenneth Muguna, Francis Kahata and Philemon Otieno as Samuel Onyango Jacques Tuyisenge and Lawrence Juma all came off the bench in the second half.
