Miheso, Akumu Axed in Kenya’s Final 23

Kenya national team boss Sébastien Migné unveiled his final 23-man list for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations with three players missing the cut.

Migne has been working with 27 players at the pre-Afcon camp in France and that list has been whittled down ahead of the showpiece which starts June 21.

Winger Clifton Miheso and midfielder Antony ‘Teddy’ Akumu were perhaps the biggest casualties among those axed. The duo joined injury casualties Brian Mandela and Christopher Mbamba in the omission list.

Meanwhile Musa Mohamed and Aboud Omar, who both limped out of the friendly win against Madagascar, have been included.

The final list has been submitted to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Stars will have their final build-up match against the Democratic Republic of Congo, this Saturday, June 15, in Madrid, Spain.

They are set to land in Egypt on June 19, five days before they play their opening match against Algeria.
