The Kenyan Premier League resumed in underwhelming fashion as Muhoroni Youth and Mathare United battled to a drab barren stalemate in their midweek clash at the Muhoroni Stadium, Wednesday (12) afternoon.
The two sides opened the round 26 matches but they both showed that the lack of competitive action for the last one-and-a-half weeks had taken a toll on them.
There was barely any goalmouth action in both halves as both teams struggled to unlock the defenses. Muhoroni, playing without their topscorer Wycliffe Ochomo searched for their goal from set pieces but they just didn’t have that razor sharp edge to put one past Robert Mboya in the visitors’ goal.
Mathare didn’t fair any better and lacked the incisiveness of winger Eric Johanna who was suspended for this match. The duo drew 1-1 during the first leg, Ochomo and Wyvonne Issuza scoring.
The result sees Mathare move above Chemelil Sugar into fourth spot with both teams on 39 points but Chemelil have a game in hand. Muhoroni remain 9th on 35 points and will need to pick up form if they are to keep up their Top 8 hopes.
