Two extra-time errors from England gave the Netherlands a dramatic 3-1 extra time victory in their Uefa Nations League semi-final.
John Stones gifted the ball to Memphis Depay in the build-up to a Kyle Walker own goal before Quincy Promes pounced on Ross Barkley’s poor pass.
Matthijs de Ligt sent the game to extra time with a late header after his foul allowed England’s Marcus Rashford to score from the penalty spot.
England’s Jesse Lingard also had a goal ruled out by VAR in the 84th minute.
Substitute Lingard thought he had won the game in normal time but was deemed offside shortly after team-mate Raheem Sterling had skimmed the crossbar with a long-range effort.
Netherlands duo Donny van de Beek and Depay had missed great chances late on too, while England winger Jadon Sancho headed straight into the keeper’s hands from a few yards out shortly after half-time.
Ronald Koeman’s side will play Portugal in Sunday’s final in Porto after Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick gave the hosts a 3-1 victory over Switzerland in the other semi-final.
