There will be no prize money awarded to the team that wins this Sunday’s KPL Super Cup clash pitting reigning Kenyan Premier League Champions Tusker FC and last season’s runners-up Gor Mahia.
This is according to the Kenyan Premier League who confirmed that the match will be played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru from 3pm.
KPL added that the match will be played under the name KPL Super Cup, a move that confirms that DSTV has withdrawn their sponsorship.
“There will be no prize money but winners will be recognized with a trophy and winners’ medals. The losing team will also get medals,” KPL said.
Bandari won the 2016 title, beating then league champions Gor Mahia 1-0.
Gor Mahia will be going for their fourth title while Tusker will be seeking to make it a double having beaten Gor Mahia 4-1 on post match penalties to win the 2012 title.
