Brendan Rodgers’ job at Liverpool was put to question once again as his Liverpool side were held to a 1-1 draw by promoted side Norwich City at Anfield.
Daniel Sturridge made his return to the Liverpool starting lineup for the first time in over five months but despite showing promise, the Reds were unable to close out the game.
After a barren and dull first half, substitute Danny Ings, who came in for injured Christian Benteke at half time, netted his first Premier League goal for Liverpool goal.
The former Burnley striker latched onto a pass from Alberto Moreno before slotting home a left-footed shot past John Ruddy just three minutes after the interval.
However, Russell Martin made use of a Simon Mignolet’s half clearance from a corner to level in the 61st minute, just before Sturridge came off.
Mignolet denied Matt Jarvis with a fine reflex save while Philippe Coutinho wasted a one-on-one while Ings almost rounded John Ruddy to score a late winner.
But Norwich held on for a deserved point as Liverpool’s stuttering start to the season continued.
Liverpool have now taken eight points from their first six games of the Premier League season, as have Norwich, who were promoted as play-off winners from the Championship last season.
