NSL Review: Nzoia on Top, Zoo Hit Sharks

Nzoia United wrestled back top spot they had briefly surrendered to Nakumatt FC after navigating a 2-1 win against past Ligi Ndogo in a National Super League clash played at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds, Wednesday afternoon.

Nakumatt’s 2-0 win over Oserian earlier in the day had seen them dislodge Nzoia from top spot but Western Kenya side returned to what is becoming a familiar position after a hard-earned three points against Ligi Ndogo.

Chris Ogutu gave relegation fighting Ligi Ndogo a 38th minute lead but which lasted only for four minutes as Masita Masuta restored parity to ensure the two sides went into the breather on level terms.

Masuta was at the center of Nzoia’s second half chances and he got the winner in the 74th minute as Nzoia hit the 20-point mark after 8 games. Ligi Ndogo remain 17th with 5 points.

Zoo victorious

At the Kericho Green Stadium, hosts Zoo Kericho were left celebrating a 1-0 success over Kariobangi Sharks thanks to Michael Madoya’s header in the 67th minute.
