NSL: Palos, Nakuru All Stars Set Early Pace

There were only six matches on the cards in the opening weekend of the 2017 National Super League (NSL) season but they were all packed with goals, 17 to be exact.

Two of the matches involved promoted sides Administration Police and Kibera All Stars. AP made their return to the NSL in perfect style, dispatching Bidco United 3-1 on Saturday thanks to a brace from Nicodemus Etemesi either side of Benjamin Kahindi’s goal that had AP leading 2-0 at the breather. Former AFC Leopards and Ushuru FC attacker Mohammed Hassan notched Bidco’s consolation.

Kibera on the other hand were given a rude welcome by former top tier side Nakuru All Stars who gave their home fans a resounding 3-0 win at Afraha. Japheth Makanji’s opener gave way to captain Anthony Nganga’s double which completed a comfortable win for Nakuru.

Palos FC joined Nakuru on top of the standings with a 3-0 win over St. Joseph’s with Morven Otinya hitting the back of the net twice after the break and John Wanda adding the extra goal away in Nakuru.

Other matches saw Joakim Omollo give Wazito FC  a 1-0 result over FC Talanta as Nairobi Stima and MOSCA FC shared a two-all draw.

The only other draw on the opening weekend was a 1-1 stalemate between Agrochemicals and Police FC.

The second weekend of matches will be this Saturday, 11 March.
