Nzoia United followed their 6-1 hammering of Mt Kenya last time out with a gritty 1-0 win over Vihiga United in their league encounter in Sudi as strugglers Western Stima and Kariobangi Sharks drew 0-0 in Kisumu.
Collins Wakhungu’s solitary strike immediately after the second half restart was enough to secure Nzoia just as many points as they did in the annihilation of Mt Kenya last Sunday.
Having gone winless in their previous five matches before last weekend, this second win on the bounce has eased off Nzoia’s relegation worries as they currently sit 9 points above the drop zone.
Vihiga, now without victory in four league outings, are just a point above the red zone.
Meanwhile at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu, struggling duo Western Stima and Kariobangi Sharks huffed and puffed from start to end with neither getting the breakthrough in a barren stalemate.
Stima, early pace setters in the title race but now languishing in 13th, have gone 9 matches without victory since beating bottom side Mt Kenya 2-1 in mid February.
Sharks, 8th, aren’t enjoying a better form as they also remain winless in five outings.
Stima host Bandari while Sharks will also be at home to Tusker in their next assignments this Sunday (14).
At the Machakos Stadium, Tusker FC narrowly beat KCB FC 1-0 thanks to a certain old boy.
