Boniface Oluoch’s second half red card was the catalyst for dropped points by league leaders Gor Mahia who surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against Chemelil Sugar in the duo’s clash at Kericho Stadium, Wednesday (25).
The custodian was sent for an early shower when he handled the ball outside his legal zone at the hour mark, his dismissal catalyzing Chemelil’s fightback.
Humphrey Mieno’s 4th minute goal had given Kogalo the perfect start and with Ephrem Guikan (who would be the sacrificial lamb for Olouch’s sins) scoring for a second match running three minutes shy of the half hour mark, the summit club looked to be cruising to another win.
However, they conceded two goals for a second game running as Charles Okiya and Benedict Mureithi netted two quick fire goals after the 70th minute mark to secure Chemelil an unlikely point. The results sees Dylan Kerr’s men go three clear of second placed Mathare and with two games still at hand. Chemelil maintain their status in the top half of the log at position 6.
In other matches, AFC Leopards drew 1-1 against Kariobangi Sharks as Zoo FC held Bandari 2-2 while Robert Matano made a winning return to the Tusker FC dugout following a 1-0 success over Wazito FC.
