Paris 7s: Kenya to Battle France in Quarters

Singapore Sevens Champions Kenya finished runners-up to New Zealand in Pool A to book a Cup quarterfinal clash with hosts France at the ongoing Paris 7s.

Kenya came from 14-0 behind to beat Portugal 29-14 in the opener, with Collins Injera scoring his 226th and 227th career tries leaving him just three short of Santiago Gomez Cora’s all-time record.

Benjamin Ayimba’s side made it two from two against Russia who were beaten 22-7 with first half tries from Sammy Oliech and Willy Ambaka with the latter crossing over again in the second-half while Humphrey Kayange wrapped things up.

The local lads would lose the final group match to New Zealand. Sir Gordon Tietjens’ trailed 12-7 at the break and 17-7 immediately after interval but tries from Rieko Ioane and Gillies Kaka helped the All Blacks Sevens to victory and they will face Argentina in the first quarter-final.
