Wazito Football Club have completed the signing of Kenya international Bernard Ochieng on a long term deal.
The 23 year old was part of the Harambee Stars squad that participated in the ongoing Afcon tournament in Egypt. He played in Kenya’s 3-2 win over Tanzania as a right back, replacing David ‘Calabar’ Owino. His standout performance in the match earned him praise from most football fans and it was a surprise that he did not start in Kenya’s third match against Senegal.
‘I am glad to join Wazito Football Club because I believe they have a vision that every upcoming footballer wants,’
‘To me they are the best club locally with young talented players that have the capability of winning trophies,’
‘I am looking foward to playing alongside the likes of Joe Waithira, Piston Mutamba and Musa Masika,’
‘I also want to win trophies here, make my CV better and improve my play,’
‘It is a dream come true and I know the journey to greater heights has just began,’ he said.
The signing ends speculations about his future which was uncertain after his former club Vihiga United was relegated from the Kenya Premier League. Ochieng had caught the eyes of several suitors including current league champions Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.
The club is also keen on making Amos Asembeka’s move from Tusker FC and also renewing Musa Masika’s contract. They are also chasing for the services of Karim Nizigyimana and Elvis Rupia. Already in the Wazito camp are Piston Mutamba, Kevin ‘Saha’ Omondi, Derrick Otanga, Musa Brian, Gad Mathew and Joshua Otieno Nyatini.
