Chemelil Sugar collected their first three points of the new season as Dennis Okangi’s early goal gave them a 1-0 result away to newcomers Kakamega Homeboyz at the Mumias Complex, Sunday (Feb. 28).
In a match that saw Homeboyz boss Mike Mururi come up against his former employers, he was left with a second straight defeat to reflect on after his side went behind in the 7th minute and then failed to score for the second game running following a 2-1 win on matchday one.
It was a win that was long overdue for Chemelil who were last weekend pipped 1-0 by Mathare United despite being the dominant side. The result saw Francis Baraza’s men go above Homeboyz on the log on.
Otieno scores on return
At the Machakos Stadium, Posta Rangers settled for a second successive 1-1 draw as Wesley Kemboi hit the equalizer for Western Stima.
Gor Mahia loanee, Timothy Otieno, returned to the starting lineup after missing last weekend’s game against his parent club but he showed his sharpness, netting his third goal in two matches from a Dennis Mukaisi cross at the quarter hour mark.
However, Kemboi leveled 10 minutes later to give Stima a point.
