Kenya Sevens Rugby team have been knocked out of the Sevens World Cup by Scotland after losing 26-31 in their second match of the day.
Innocent Simiyu’s Shujaa blew away a 26-0 half time lead to lose 26-31 in the round of 16 match played on Saturday morning.
Tries from Collins Injera, Nelson Oyoo, Willy Ambaka and Jeffery Oluoch saw Kenya take a commanding 26-0 half time lead. Scotland staged a remarkable comeback in the second Stanza, scoring 5 tries in 5 second half minutes to progress to the World Cup Quarter Finals. Jamie Farndale’s late score securing a dramatic victory.
Sammy Oliech and Samuel Ngethe had been sent to the bin when Scotland completed the comeback.
Kenya had control of the game at the interval. Four tries with three conversions meant the Shujaa boys only needed to hold on for 7 minutes.

Scotland’s wheels were starting to turn nicely and it was changing the complexion of the scoreboard completely in 9th minute. Scott Riddell pounced on an interception and then they gained a penalty try. Second score.
Kenya were missing two players due to yellow cards, Sammy Oliech for taking the man out who was about to score and a second, Samuel Ngethe for throwing the ball away.
With Oliech and Ngethe off the pitch the pressure took it toll and Scotland crossed… the worrying thing for kicker Robbie Fergusson was the fact that was on the far righthand touchline.
He however nailed the conversion to level the game! Nerves of steel and there was room for kick-off.
Scotland would do it with the last play as Farndale went over on the left-side, Ombachi’s attempt to make a try-saving tackle and probably keep Kenya in the game was not successful. TMO confirmed it was indeed a try.
