Sharks, Leaders Mathare Stunned

Mathare United suffered their second straight loss, and third of the season, after a late Pistone Mutamba free-kick earned opponents Wazito a 1-0 success at Camp Toyoyo, Saturday (22)

The Slum Boys, still top of the log but having played three more than second-placed Gor Mahia, looked destined for a point until Mutamba’s free-kick sunk in with the help of goalkeeper Job Ochieng.

There wasn’t much to separate the duo as they both looked to bounce back from losses in their prior clash where Mathare lost to Posta Rangers 2-1 while Wazito were beaten 3-1 at Chemelil.

It was to Wazito’s good day in office though as they picked only their third win of the season that puts them 12th on the log.

Also suffering defeat at Toyoyo were William Muluya’s Kariobangi Sharks who lost 1-2 to visiting Kakamega Homeboyz.
Former Tusker FC winger Noah Wafula gave Homeboyz a deserved lead just before the interval.

Sharks woke up from their slumber after the break and restored parity through Paul Kamau who must have been shocked at the ease in which he was allowed to bomb into the danger area before rifling home.

Substitute Hassan Kikoyo however ensured the hosts would retain winless for four matches now as he netted Homeboyz’s winner 15 minutes before the final whistle. The win sees Mike Mururi’s men go 10th on the log, a position and two points above Sharks.
In other matches, Bandari FC picked a 1-0 home success over AFC Leopards while Zoo Kericho whipped Tusker 3-1 as Sofapaka and Chemelil shared a one-all stalemate.
