Oliver Kiprutto and Masita Masuta were on target as Ulinzi Stars recorded their second straight, beating Chemelil Sugar 2 – 0 at Afraha Stadium on Sunday 29, April.

Ruto handed his side an 18th minute lead via a well-struck free-kick outside the danger zone.

Masuta could have grabbed his fifth strike of the season earlier but saw his effort hit the bar. He however made up for that failure, heading past visiting keeper John Waw after 37 minutes to give his side a comfortable half time lead which they protected till the end.

Meanwhile at the Thika sub-County stadium, hosts Thika United conceded three unanswered goals in a thumping defeat against Nzoia Sugar.

Elvis Rupia scored twice and substitute Morven Otinya added the third, all in the final 20 minutes as the hosts suffered their 6th defeat of the season that leaves them second from bottom.

Bernard Mwalala’s side however find themselves in the top half of the log, tied on 19 points alongside Posta Rangers, 5th, and AFC Leopards in sixth.

At the Camp Toyoyo, Sammy Omollo’s Posta settled for a barren draw against Kariobangi Sharks. It’s a match that both sides spun chances to get to the score sheet, each side guilty of wasted chances.

The first half was a Sharks affair with the Men on White almost coming through in the 23rd minute through Duke Abuya. Posta would then turn on the screw in the second half and were denied twice in the dying minutes courtesy of Jeff Oyemba’s heroics.

In other matches played on Sunday, Wazito FC stunned Sofapaka 1-0 as Tusker FC edged Sony Sugar 3-2 to give new boss Matano his second win in as many matches.
